Given that it’s berry season and we’re all suckers for strawberries, I’m going to assume that you’ve been throwing away a lot of strawberry tops.

Well don’t. Thanks to Food52, I have recently learnt that strawberry tops make for a delicious and refreshing summer drink.

You just leave them in water overnight and your water has a pleasant, light, fruity taste

I went one better and combined it with mint because, along with berries, mint is another summer must-have in my kitchen.

the longer it infuses, the better (obviously)

If you want to switch things up, I’d also recommend trying fresh basil or some lemon/orange rind.

Strawberry & Mint Infused Water (makes 3 cups)

  • 3 cups distilled water
  • 10-12 strawberry tops
  • 1-2 sprigs fresh mint, roughly torn
  1. Put everything together in a jar or bottle. Chill overnight then strain and enjoy.

  1. oh my. This does sound delightful. I wonder if I can get mom to make me some? What? Piggies like flavored water too. Thanks for the recipe. I’m printing it now for the fridge for mom. XOXO – Bacon
