Christmas is coming, and the goose food blogger is getting fat.
Seriously. Given my efforts to cram as many Christmas recipes onto this blog as possible before the big day, I am going to end up rotund by New Year.
I’m taking a break today and getting my porky butt to the gym (my Pilates-given abs of steel are buried below layers of pudding, cake and cookies) so instead here’s some delightful, healthy recipes culled from the vast repository of knowledge that is the web.
Happy cooking!
1. First up is a delicious-sounding peppermint hot chocolate which even the dairy-free can enjoy. Instead of using peppermint essence, they’ve gone with peppermint tea which makes it a winner in my book. Peppermint tea is my crack.
2. It’s very, very difficult to get a good grain-free cookie. Real Food Freaks seem to have nailed it with these Molasses Cookies. I admit to feeling jealous….and hungry.
3. This might just be my new favourite thing – chocolate almond bark. Stick it in a fancy-looking bag, add a ribbon and you’ve got an inexpensive, thoughtful holiday gift (I hope my neighbours aren’t reading this…surprise guys!).
4. More bark here, at the Nourished Kitchen. This time it’s honey-sweetened white chocolate and if that doesn’t get your appetite going, you are clearly dead or insane.
5. Fresh 4 Five has a new take on the traditional turkey dinner – Sticky & Sweet Turkey Meatballs. Yes please.
6. And no Christmas meal would be complete without something to serve with the tea/coffee course (if your belly hasn’t ruptured by then). Try this delicious-looking Cranberry Lemon Loaf, made with almond flour and boasting one of the healthiest glazes I’ve seen in a while.
7. I realise that this list is heavy on the desserts but I just can’t help myself when I see things like this peppermint brownie roll. Genius.
8. Back when I refused to eat meat (silly blogger), I cooked a tiny cornish game hen for hubs one Christmas. It went down a treat, as would these roasted, brined, cornish game hens with pomegranate sauce from REM Cooks.
So, that’s your lot. All that remains is for the whirlwind of shopping, preparing and cooking to begin. G’luck!

Ooooooh wow, this list looks fantastic! I’m excited to be a part of it! Guess I’m going to be forced to spend the rest of my morning investigating these links.
I love your work Leslie. And also your blog name – real food freaks are my kinda people!
Oh My! yummy list of holiday food! Thanks for including my Meatballs! Cheers! Enjoy your time out of the kitchen today! Happy Holidays! ~Danielle
Hi Danielle. The meatballs were a no-brainer…they look so delicious
Thanks for the nice comment and inclusion in your list, Cat. You’re always very sweet. This year we’re doing a 14.5 lb suckling pig. It is arriving sometime today and I am very excited.
Woah! That sounds v ambitious. I hope it makes your blog cos I’m intrigued. Enjoy the suckling pig & merry Christmas to you and your lady!
Thanks, Cat. With a little luck, the little piggie will be on the blog after Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and Hubs, too.
Deeeelish!
Reblogged this on The ObamaCrat.Com™.
Awesome! Love ya work! Love the sticky and sweet pomegranate molasses turkey meatballs – pomegranates being my favourite thing in the whole world (especially teamed with Vodka!). Have a wonderful Christmas
you too Helen! I hope it is filled with pomegranate-laced vodka
Wow, great line-up! I have the cranberry lemon loaf and the pomegranate molassas sauce on my list to make, too. Thanks so much for including the Peppermint Brownie Roll in here – I was pumped to see that it made the list!! I hope you love it as much as we do. And I totally feel you on the abs of steel buried below desserts. This is my first holiday as a blogger and honestly, I am almost looking forward to the holidays being over just so I can stop making (and eating!) all these fun holiday desserts. My poor, poor abs
Have a great Christmas!!
Hi Kelly. I am with on the holidays-being-bad-for-food-bloggers. It’s getting exhausting…and I never thought I’d say that about eating
Happy holidays to you and yours!
Creeper Santa totally cracked me up!
Oh wow! These selections look amazing (and I’m not just saying that cause my peppermint hot chocolate made the list – btw thanks!).
Chocolate bark…divine…and those meatballs look crazy good. Yikes! This could be dangerous! I hope you had a very merry (and yummy) Christmas!
